Our Expertise in Onshore Wind
We commissioned our first onshore wind farm—Jardin d’Éole in Matane, Québec—in 2009, marking the start of our onshore wind development. We quickly built on this foundation, expanding our presence across Québec, Ontario, New York State, and Spain as part of our growing global portfolio.

Through onshore wind generation, we tap wind resources across diverse terrains to produce electricity. Turbines installed on land feed power directly into regional grids, strengthening local energy systems and supporting surrounding communities. Our onshore operating fleet supports energy security, local job creation, and contributes to decarbonization efforts in our core markets.
Our Grand Bend onshore wind farm, located near Lake Huron in Ontario, is a 100 MW facility featuring 40 turbines. Commissioned in 2016 in partnership with two local First Nation partners, it delivers renewable energy to power the local community. The project showcases Northland’s commitment to sustainable development, Indigenous partnerships, and reliable, sustainable energy for communities.
