Our Expertise in Solar
We began producing solar power in 2013 as one of our early renewable technologies, driving growth for our business alongside onshore wind and natural gas. In Canada, we own and operate 13 ground-mount solar projects that generate approximately 200 GWh of energy annually. In Spain, our portfolio of photovoltaic and concentrated solar facilities has a total installed capacity of over 100 MW.

Our solar assets convert sunlight into electricity using technologies such as photovoltaic (PV) panels and concentrated solar (CS) systems. By capturing the sun’s energy across rooftops and utility‑scale solar farms, solar generation delivers clean power with minimal environmental impact. Its proven technology, scalability, and strong performance in sunny regions make solar a key contributor to renewable energy growth, supporting decarbonization, grid reliability, and long‑term sustainability in our core markets.
Northland’s Belleville North solar farm was one of our first operational solar projects, commissioned in 2013 under Ontario’s Feed-in-Tariff program. The 10 MW facility, equipped with 45,000 panels, delivers renewable electricity to the local community.
Spain is global leader in solar energy, driven by consistent sunlight, supportive policies and private and public investment opportunities. With favourable market conditions for solar, we established a strong presence in Spain’s renewable energy sector through the acquisition of a 559 MW operating portfolio of solar and wind projects.
