Overview
Kirkland Lake Generating Station is a 111 MW operating facility combining natural gas and biomass technologies. Commissioned in 1990 and expanded in 2004, it includes a baseload combined-cycle plant and a peaking unit. The facility benefits from two power purchase agreements with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for dispatchable gas-fired generation – one for the combined-cycle plant to 2030 and one for the simple-cycle (‘Peaker’) plant to 2035.
